About the Choir

Pangbourne Choral Society is a thriving, non-audition choral society based in Pangbourne, Berkshire, with over 100 active members. We rehearse and hold concerts in The Falkland Islands Memorial Chapel at Pangbourne College.

Our repertoire is mainly focused on the larger choral works, recent examples being Bach's St John Passion, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Handel’s Messiah, and requiems by Fauré, Britten and Verdi. The summer concert normally consists of a lighter, more mixed programme. 2013-2014 was our 40th Anniversary Season, during which we staged an extraordinary anniversary concert where our then current and former musical directors conducted works such as Fauré's Cantique de Jean Racine and Vaughan Williams's Toward the Unknown Region. In March 2016 we performed Bach's wonderful Mass in B Minor and then in June 2016 Rutter's Gloria, with the Wantage Silver Band. Our spring concert in 2017 took us on a journey of sacred music from Tallis to Bruckner via Purcell and Mozart, and in summer 2017 we performed songs from the great American songbook to much acclaim. An inspiring performance of the Mozart Requiem in March 2018 was followed by a lighter songs from the shows concert in June. Full details of future and past concerts and works are on our Performances pages, including ticket information when available.
